Are you involved with youth activism or advocacy networks? Then we need you! Plan International is looking for passionate young activists and advocates from all over the world to help us shape our global campaigns!

What is the GYIG?

The Global Young Influencer Group is a diverse and powerful team of young activists who are driving change and co-creating campaigns for gender equality.

The group represents different regions, backgrounds, and identities, and work together online to shape Plan International’s youth-centred campaigns.

Participation in this group is on a voluntary basis with the average engagement of each influencer ranging from 5 hours to 10 hours per month.

Who are we looking for?

We are searching for young people of all genders aged 15-23, who are already active in their local communities (within or outside of Plan International).

So, apply if:

✓ You are 15-23 years old
✓ Able to commit for 1 years of engagement
✓ You are passionate about gender equality, climate justice, sexual and reproductive health, anti-colonialism, or related issues.
✓ You have experience as an activist /advocate
✓ You are fluent in English, French or Spanish
✓ You are part of community, national or regional youth networks and able to organise and mobilise youth in those networks

We are especially interested in hearing from young activists who are from diverse backgrounds and identities, including people with disabilities, people of colour, diverse gender identities, members of indigenous communities, former or current members of our sponsorship programme, young people in DRM settings, young people with migratory backgrounds, or any other underrepresented group.

How to apply

Just introduce yourself and tell us why you want to be a part of this group, what skills and experience you have to offer, and what you hope to gain. This could be in writing (no more than 250 words) or, if you prefer, send us a video (no more than 90 seconds long).

Here are some questions you can use for guidance:

  • What is your name? How old are you? Where are you from?
  • How do you fit the selection criteria?
  • What inspires you to be an activist?
  • Are you a member of any local activist groups or collectives? Tell us about your involvement.
  • Do you have past experience engaging with Plan International / The GYIG?
  • Give us an example of a campaign that inspires you.
  • How do you think your unique background and experiences can contribute to our diverse group?
  • What are your top three goals that you hope to achieve if you become a Global Young Influencer?
  • Our next global campaign will focus on climate change and gender equality, and you’ll be co‑creating it with us – what ideas or insights would you like to share?
