The newsletter highlights the momentum and impact of Plan International Benin’s initiatives from October to December 2025, which were characterised by a comprehensive approach aimed at removing the health, educational, economic, and social barriers that hinder girls’ and children’s development.
The publication also presents Plan International Benin’s efforts to address security and climate challenges in the north of the country.

Newsletter highlights in English
Health and wellbeing
- Plan International Bénin taught staff about prostate cancer and breast cancer, showing how early checks can save lives.
- Teams across the country celebrated Christmas together, enjoying games, music and time to connect.
Young people’s health
- Young people ran radio shows to teach others about sexually transmitted infections, teen pregnancy, and menstrual hygiene.
- 112 students learned how the menstrual cycle works and how to support each other at school.
- A big health fair helped over 600 young people with free tests and information about staying healthy and safe.
HIV and rights
- A fast‑track plan helped the team run delayed activities, including training health workers and community groups on HIV prevention and human rights.
- Experts approved a new study plan to learn more about HIV risks among key populations.
- Almost 370 health workers were trained to give respectful, non‑judgmental care.
Education
- 304 solar lamps were given to schoolchildren so they can study at night, even without electricity.
- Local leaders agreed to fund special learning centres to help children who are out of school.
- Teachers and school directors learned better ways to run schools and include every child.
Women’s and youth empowerment
- A “Consume Local” fair helped mothers’ groups and young entrepreneurs sell local products and grow their businesses.
- Women’s savings groups collected over 6 million CFA, helping families earn and save money.
- The Youth Empowerment in West Africa programme trained young people in useful jobs like solar energy, farming, and digital skills.
Community stability and peace
- In border areas, 395 young people were trained in farming, beekeeping and other skills to help build safer, stronger communities.
Humanitarian support
- We helped more than 30,000 people affected by crises with food, water, school kits and farming tools.
- Children who were displaced by violence or floods received support so they could keep studying.
Champions of Change
- Youth leaders learned how to tell strong, true stories about their work and take good photos and videos.
